STORY 22
Katie: So how have you been, Brian? It seems like ages since I've seen you.
ケイティー：ブライアン、元気だった？ 会うの、ずいぶん久しぶりのような気がするわ。
Brian: I've been fine. We've almost finished that mobile phone design project, which has been keeping me so busy recently.
ブライアン：元気だよ。携帯電話のデザインの仕事は、ほとんど終わったよ。ここのところ、ずっと忙しかったけど。
Katie: Is that going well?
ケ：うまく行ってるの？
Brian: Yes, the client seems very pleased with what we've shown them so far.
ブ：ああ、これまでのところ、出来に関しては、クライアントはとても満足してくれてる。
Katie: That's good to hear.
ケ：それは良かったわ。
Brian: Hopefully, when we finish that, I'll have a little more time to spend with you.
ブ：それが終わったら、もっと君といられる時間が増えると思うよ。
Katie: Well, I certainly look forward to that.
ケ：まあ、楽しみだわ。
Brian: Yes, me too.
ブ：僕もさ。
Katie: You know, the other day, I was talking to Lisa, and she suggested that we go on a vacation together.
ケ：あのね、この間リサと話してたんだけど、彼女が言うには、一緒にバカンスに出かけたら？ って。
Brian: That sounds like it would be a lot of fun.
ブ：それはとても楽しそう。
Katie: You know, we have never traveled anywhere together.
ケ：ねえ、私たちどこへも一緒に旅行したこと、ないわね。
Brian: Yes, that's true. Where would you want to go?
ブ：ああ、そうだね。どこへ行きたい？
Katie: I hadn't even thought about that yet. Do you think you will actually be able to get the time off?
ケ：まだ考えたことなかったわ。あなたはお休み、取れそうなの？
Brian: Yeah, sure. I'm due for a vacation.
ブ：ああ。休みが取れるはずだよ。
Katie: You really think so? You always seem so busy.
ケ：本当にそう思う？ あなた、いつでも忙しそうよ。
Brian: Yeah, it should be no problem. We are almost finished with this mobile phone project and when we are done with that, I will be able to request some days off. What about you?
ブ：ああ、大丈夫だよ。携帯電話の仕事、ほとんど終わってるし、それが終わったら、何日か休みを申請できると思うよ。君は？
Katie: It should be no problem for me to take time off.
ケ：私は、休みを取るのは問題ないわ。
Brian: So where shall we go?
ブ：じゃあ、どこへ行こうか？
Katie: Hmm... I'm not sure. Do you have any ideas?
ケ：う〜ん。わからないわ。どこかいいとこある？
Brian: It would be nice to go somewhere sunny.
ブ：どこか、天気のいいところがいいな。
Katie: That sounds nice.
ケ：それはいいわね。
Brian: How about going down to Mexico?
ブ：メキシコはどうかな。
Katie: I've never been there. But don't you think it would be a little too hot this time of year?
ケ：私、行ったことないわ。でも、この時期にメキシコに行くのは、ちょっと暑くないかしら。
Brian: Yeah, that's true. I hadn't thought of that. Do you have any other ideas?
ブ：それもそうだね。そこまで考えてなかったよ。君は、どこか思いつかない？
Katie: Someplace sunny, huh?
ケ：天気のいいところよね？
Brian: Yes, if possible. I spend most of my time working in an office, so it would be nice to take time off and do something outdoors.
ブ：うん、できればね。いつもずっとオフィスの中にいるから、休みが取れたら外で何かできたらなあと思ってるんだ。
Katie: I see. But I don't want to just go and sit on the beach. I'd like to go somewhere where there is something to do.
ケ：なるほどね。でも、どこかビーチヘ行って、ただ座ってるだけ、というのはいやよ。何か、実際に体を動かせるところがいいわ。
Brian: I see what you mean.
ブ：言ってることわかるよ。
Katie: Hey, have you ever been to Canada?
ケ：じゃあ、カナダは行ったことある？
Brian: No, I haven't.
ブ：いや、ないよ。
Katie: How about going up to Vancouver for a few days?
ケ：何日か、バンクーバーに行くのはどう？
Brian: Vancouver? Have you ever been there?
ブ：バンクーバー？ 君、行ったことあるの？
Katie: No, I haven't. But a coworker of mine went up there last year and had a great time.
ケ：ないわ。でも同僚が去年そこへ行って、とても楽しかったって。
Brian: That could be interesting.
ブ：面白そうだね。
Katie: There is plenty to do outdoors, but it never gets too hot. There is also a lot to see around the city.
ケ：外でできることもたくさんあるし、あまり暑すぎないし。街には名所もいっぱいあるし。
Brian: That sounds pretty good. So why don't we go there?
ブ：そこ、とっても良さそうだね。じゃあ、そこにしない？
Katie: OK. Tomorrow, I'll look on the internet for good places to stay.
ケ：いいわよ。明日、インターネットでいいホテルがないか、探してみるわ。
