STORY 8
Katie: Urn, this cappuccino is really good. I think they do a much better cappuccino here than the other place we used to go to. Lisa, how is yours?
ケイティー：あら、このカプチーノおいしい！ ここのカプチーノ。今まで行ってたお店より、とてもおいしいわ。リサ、あなたのはどう？
Lisa: It's alright, I guess. Not the best latte I have ever had, but it is OK.
リサ：おいしいわ。今まででいちばん、ってほどでもないけど、とてもおいしいわ。
Brian: I only drink black coffee myself, so it doesn't make much difference to me.
ブライアン：僕はブラックコーヒーしか飲まないから、違いがよくわからないんだよね。
Jason: Mine is good.
ジェイソン：僕もだ。
Lisa: So, Jason, you are also friends with Brian. Did you guys meet through Katie?
リ：ジェイソン、あなたはブライアンとお友だちよね。あなたたちは、ケイティーを通じて知り合ったの？
Katie: No, it was the other way around.
ケ：その逆よ。
Jason: Actually, Brian and I have been friends for a long time.
ジ：ブライアンと僕は昔からの友だちなんだ。
Brian: Yeah, we went to high school together, but Jason was a year ahead of me.
ブ：そうなんだ。同じ高校に通ってたんだ。ジェイソンのほうが、１つ学年が上なんだけどね。
Jason: So fast forward several years and I'm working with Katie. A few people from work decided to go out for a drink on a Friday night, and we bumped into Brian on the street quite by accident, and I asked him to come along.
ジ：それから何年か経つけど、今僕はケイティーと働いてる。ある金曜の夜、仕事の仲間何人かで飲みに出かけた時、まったく偶然、通りでばったリブライアンに会ったんだ。で、一緒に飲みに行こうと誘ったんだ。
Katie: And that is how we met.
ケ：そうやって私たちは出会ったというわけ。
Brian: Love at first sight.
ブ：一目惚れってこと。
Lisa: Oh, how romantic! It must have been fate.
リ：ロマンチックね！ きっと出会う運命だったんだわ。
Brian: Well, we were bound to meet sooner or later. My best friend was working with her.
ブ：遅かれ早かれ、出会う運命にあったってことかな。だっていちばんの親友が、彼女と仕事してるんだもの。
Jason: So I brought these two together.
ジ：僕がキューピッド役をやったんだ。
Lisa: That is sweet. But you too both seem so busy with work, how do you find time to see each other?
リ：素敵だわ。でも、あなたたちとても忙しそうだけど、どうやって会う時間を作っているの？
Katie: It can be hard sometimes.
ケ：会えないときもあるわ。
Brian: We just make sure that we set aside one full day every weekend to spend with each other.
ブ：週末一緒に過ごせるように、お互い、１日は取っておくことにしてあるんだ。
Katie: We can't always do that, if something work-related comes up for one of us.
ケ：いつもそうできるわけじゃないんだけどね。２人のどちらかに急に仕事が入ったりすると。
Brian: So when that happens, we just try to spend more time together the following week.
ブ：そういう時は、次の週こそは、一緒にいる時間を増やそうと思うね。
Katie: I think the most important thing is that when we meet, we never talk about our work.
ケ：で、会えたときは、仕事の話はしないよう、気をつけてる。
Brian: Exactly, we both just forget all about work, leave all the stress of that behind us, and enjoy spending time together.
ブ：そうだね。仕事のことはすっかり忘れて、いやなこともすっかり忘れて、一緒に楽しく過ごすんだ。
Jason: Oh, really? I always thought that having someone to talk to about work allows you to let off some of the stress that you accumulate during the week.
ジ：ボンドに？ 仕事のグチを誰かに話せたら、平日にたまったストレスを、発散できるんじゃないの？
Lisa: Yeah, exactly.
リ：そうよ、そうだわ。
Katie: But for us, when we meet each other, it's really the only time we are completely away from work, so we really want to feel like we are taking a break.
ケ：私たちの場合は、お互い会えたときって、仕事のことを完全に忘れられる唯一の時間だから、仕事のことからは離れたいのよ。
Lisa: Well, yeah, I can see what you mean. Jason, what do you do to relieve stress?
リ：わかるわ。ジェイソン、ストレス解消に何かやってる？
Jason: For me, the best way is going out and exercising, playing a bit of basketball with Brian, or going for a run.
ジ：僕にとってストレス解消のいちばんの方法は、外へ出て運動することだなあ。ブライアンとちょっとバスケットをしたり、ランニングしたり。
Lisa: Oh, me too. I just started yoga. Katie has been doing it for a while, and I started to go with her. I just had my first lesson last week.
リ：私も。私、ヨガを始めたの。ケイティーは以前からやってたんだけど、私も一緒にヨガに通い始めたの。先週初めてのレッスンだったの。
Jason: How did that go?
ジ：どうだった？
Lisa: It was great! It really is so relaxing, and the perfect way to get rid of stress. I feel like I can wipe the slate clean.
リ：良かったわ！ とてもリラックスできて、ストレス解消にはもってこいよ。とってもリフレッシュできるわ。
Jason: So you are going to stick with it?
ジ：続けられそう？
Lisa: Yeah, of course. I can't wait for the next lesson!
リ：もちろんよ。次のレッスンが待ち遠しいわ！
