STORY 5
Katie: Oh, hi. Sorry it's me who's late this time. I had a few things to finish at home.
ケイティー：ごめんなさい。今度は私が遅れちゃったわ。家で少し片付けものがあって。
Brian: No, problem, dear. I just got here myself.
ブライアン：いいんだよ。僕もたった今来たところだよ。
Katie: I'll just get a coffee and I'll be right back.
ケ：コーヒーを頼んでくる。すぐに戻るわ。
Brian: Sure.
ブ：ああ。
Katie: OK, sorry to keep you waiting.
ケ：お待たせ。
Brian: No problem. What did you get?
ブ：何を注文したの？
Katie: Just a cappuccino.
ケ：カプチーノよ。
Brian: So, what are we doing today?
ブ：今日は何をする？
Katie: I thought we could grab some food and go to the park.
ケ：何か食べ物を買って、公園へ行こうかなと思ってたんだけど。
Brian: That sounds nice, but I think it's supposed to rain later today.
ブ：それは楽しそうなんだけど、でもそのうち雨になるらしいよ。
Katie: Yeah, it does look like rain. How about going to see a movie?
ケ：そうよね、たしかに雨が降りそうね。映画を見に行くのはどう？
Brian: Sure, that sounds good to me.
ブ：いいね。それがいいよ。
Katie: So, what should we see?
ケ：じゃあ、何を見る？
Brian: Well, I brought a newspaper, so let's have a look at the listings.
ブ：新聞を持って来たよ。リストを見てみよう。
Katie: Sure.
ケ：いいわよ。
Brian: Hmm. Let's see. How about the new Johnny Depp movie?
ブ：そうだなあ。ジョニー・デップの新作はどう？
Katie: Oh, not today. I'm not in the mood for a big Hollywood movie today.
ケ：今日はちょっと…。今日はハリウッドの大作映画を見る気分じゃないのよ。
Brian: OK, that's fine. What are you in the mood for?
ブ：いいよ。じゃあ、どんな気分なんだい？
Katie: Maybe something a little more slow-paced.
ケ：もっとゆっくりした落ち着いた映画かな。
Brian: Let's see what else is playing.
ブ：ほかに何をやっているか見てみよう。
Katie: How about this German movie?
ケ：このドイツ映画はどうかしら？
Brian: Hmm, I'm not so sure. I'm not really up for reading subtitles today.
ブ：どんなもんだろう。今日は、あまり字幕を読もうという気がしないんだけど。
Katie: Yeah, I feel like that myself sometimes. Oh, this might be good. It's a movie by this English director.
ケ：私もそういう時があるわ。あら、良かったわ。監督はイギリス人よ。
Brian: What's it about?
ブ：どういう映画だろう？
Katie: I'm not too sure, but I think it is set in a small town in England, and the main character is a musician or wants to be a musician or something like that.
ケ：私にもよくわからないわ。イギリスの小さな町が舞台みたい。主人公はミュージシャンか、あるいはミュージシャンになりたがっている人みたい。
Brian: Do you know who it is?
ブ：誰だか知ってるかい？
Katie: I'm not sure. No one famous, I think.
ケ：知らないわ。きっと、あまり有名じゃない人ね。
Brian: It's playing at 5 and 8:30. Which one should we see?
ブ：上映は５時と８時半だ。どちらを見る？
Katie: Oh, let's see it at 5, then we can have dinner just after.
ケ：５時のにしましょう。そしたら、終わってからディナーに行けるわ。
Brian: That sounds good. But we'll have to leave soon to get to the theater in time.
ブ：それはいいね。じゃあ、それに間に合うように、そろそろ行かないと。
Katie: OK, but let me finish my coffee first.
ケ：オーケー。でもその前にコーヒーを全部飲ませて。
Brian: And where should we go for dinner after? Maybe we should call ahead and make a reservation somewhere. Brain speaking
ブ：映画の後は、どこへ食べに行く？ あらかじめ電話して予約しておいた方がいいんじゃないのかな。
Katie: How about that little Indian restaurant just near the theater.
ケ：映画館の近くの、小さなインド料理のお店はどう？
Brian: Actually, I just had Indian food with work mates the other day
ブ：実はね、つい先日同僚とインド料理を食べたばかりなんだよね。
Katie: Ah, I heard that a new Thai place just opened up near the theater. Should we try it?
ケ：映画館のすぐ近くに、タイ料理のお店がオープンしたそうよ。行ってみない？
Brian: That sounds like a good idea. I haven't had Thai food in a while.
ブ：それはいいアイデアだ。しばらくタイ料理は食べてないし。
Katie: OK, let's get going.
ケ：じゃあ行きましょう。
