Q: Imagine you answer the phone for Susan Smith, but she is out of the office today. How would you take a message for Susan?
A: I’m sorry, but Susan is out of the office today. Could I take a message?
Q: Imagine you answer the phone for Harry Winston, but his line is engaged. What would you say to take a message for Harry?
A: I’m afraid Harry is on another line at the moment. May I ask who’s calling? Would you like to leave a message?
Q: Imagine you answer the phone for Alice Jannsen, but she’s on holiday until next Friday. What would you say to take a message for Alice?
A: I’m sorry, but Alice is on holiday until next Friday. Could I take a message? Or Would you like me to put you through to her voice mail?
Q: Imagine you answer the phone, but you didn’t catch the caller’s last name. What would you say?
I’m sorry, but I didn’t catch your last name. Could you speak a little more slowly and a little louder, please?
Q: Imagine you answer the phone, but you are not sure if you caught the caller’s phone number correctly. What would you say?
A: Please let me repeat your phone number to make sure I got it right.

Q: Imagine you would like to leave a message for Stephen to call you back because you need to speak with him on an urgent matter. What would you say?
A: Please have Stephen call me as soon as he gets in. I need to speak with him on an urgent matter.
