Q: Imagine you are Joe Jackson, a marketing assistant from ABC Advertising. You’d like to speak with the marketing director Michael Roberts about an online advertising program.
A: Hello, this is Joe Jackson from ABC Advertising speaking. May I speak with the marketing director Michael Roberts, please? I’m calling about an online advertising campaign.
Q: Imagine you are John. You’d like to speak with Marina to invite her to a party tonight.
A: It’s John calling. Is Marina there? I’m calling to invite her to a party tonight.
Q: Imagine you are Mike Andrews in the technical support department. You’d like to be put through to Rosalind Wilson in customer service. This is an urgent call.
A: Hello, this is Mike Andrews in the technical support department, calling for Rosalind Wilson in customer service. May I speak with her, please? It’s urgent.

A: Thank you for calling the Pelican Law Firm. Chris Martin speaking. How may I help you?
Q: Imagine you are Robert Stewart. What would you say to answer a call to your direct line when the person asks for you by name? Then, ask who is on the phone.
A: This is he. May I ask who’s calling?
Or you could say,
A: Speaking. May I have your name, please?
Q: Imagine you are a receptionist at Tokyo Telegraph. What would you say when the caller asks about hours of operation?
A: Hello. Thank you for calling Tokyo Telegraph. Our hours of operation during the week are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and we are closed on holidays and weekends.
