Lisa: Oh, hi, Katie. How are you?
リサ：ああ、ケイティー、調子どう？
Katie: I'm fine. You're home late tonight.
ケイティー：いいわよ。今夜は遅かったわね。
Lisa: Yeah, after work, I met Jason for dinner.
リ：うん、仕事の後、ジェイソンと一緒に夕食を食べたの。
Katie: Oh, really? Where did you go?
ケ：あらそうなの？ どこへ行ったの？
Lisa: Have you seen that new Italian restaurant that just opened up near your office?
リ：あなたの会社の近くに、イタリアンのお店がオープンしたんだけど、知ってる？
Katie: Oh, you mean the place with the little tables you can see from the window?
ケ：ああ、窓から小さなテーブルが見えるお店？
Lisa: Yes, that's it. We went there.
リ：そう、そこへ行ったの。
Katie: How was it?
ケ：どうだった？
Lisa: It was OK. It was not the best Italian food I've ever had, but it was nice.
リ：良かったわ。今まで行ったイタリアンのお店で、いちばんとは言わないまでも、いいお店だったわ。
Katie: That's good to know. I'll try to go there with Brian sometime.
ケ：それはいいことを聞いたわ。いつかブライアンとそこへ行ってみようっと。
Lisa: They do a really good linguini with clams. You should try that.
リ：貝のリングイネ・パスタがとってもおいしいわよ。食べてみて。
Katie: So Lisa. You have been seeing a lot of Jason lately, haven't you?
ケ：最近、ジェイソンとよく会ってるみたいね。
Lisa: Well, yeah, I guess you could say that.
リ：ええ、まあ、そうね。
Katie: How are things going with him?
ケ：彼とはどんな感じなの？
Lisa: Just fine.
リ：順調よ。
Katie: Jason is really a nice guy, isn't he?
ケ：ジェイソンって、本当にいい人よね。
Lisa: Yes, I think so.
リ：うん、私もそう思うわ。
Katie: Sorry, I didn't want to sound like I was prying.
ケ：ごめん、首を突っ込むつもりじゃないのよ。
Lisa: Oh, no, I didn't think that.
リ：あら、全然そんな風には思わなかったわ。
Katie: I have come to think of you as a younger sister.
ケ：近頃あなたのこと、妹みたいに思うようになってきたの。
Lisa: Oh, that's sweet.
リ：あら、うれしいわ。
Katie: Well, Jason is a nice guy, so I am happy you two are going out.
ケ：ジェイソンはいい人よ。だから、あなたたち２人が付き合ってるのを見て、私、うれしいの。
Lisa: Thanks. And I guess I should thank you for introducing me to him.
リ：ありがとう。それから、彼に私を紹介してくれて、ありがとうね。
Katie: Oh, it's nothing.
ケ：どういたしまして。
Lisa: And how are things going with you and Brian?
リ：で、あなたはブライアンとはどうなの？
Katie: Just fine, I guess.
ケ：順調だと思うわ。
Lisa: You don't sound so sure.
リ：あまりそうは聞こえないけど。
Katie: Well, as you know, we are both always so busy. It is sometimes hard for us to find time to meet each other.
ケ：ほら、私たち２人とも忙しいでしょ。だから会う時間を見つけるのが難しいのよ。
Lisa: Is Brian very busy these days?
リ：最近ブライアンとても忙しいの？
Katie: Yes. He is always busy, but he has been especially busy these last few weeks working on a big design project. We have always tried to meet once a week at the very least. But I haven't actually seen him in almost two weeks.
ケ：うん。彼はいつも忙しいけど、この２、３週間は大きなプロジェクトがあって、とりわけ忙しかったわ。今まで私たち、少なくとも１週間に１回は会う努力をしてきたの。しかし、もう２週間近く彼と会ってないわ。
Lisa: That is a long time not to see each other.
リ：それはずいぶん長いわね。
Katie: Yeah, I really miss him.
ケ：ええ、さびしいわ。
Lisa: You know what I think you two should do?
リ：ねえ、あなたたち、こうしたらいいと思うんだけど。
Katie: What's that?
ケ：何？
Lisa: I think you and Brian should plan to take a vacation together.
リ：ブライアンと一緒に休暇をとったらいいと思うわ。
Katie: Oh, that could be fun.
ケ：それ、楽しいかも。
Lisa: Have you two ever travelled together?
リ：あなたたち、今までに一緒に旅行したことは？
Katie: Actually, no we haven't.
ケ：ないわ。
Lisa: Just think of it: you could spend a whole week together.
リ：考えてみて。まる１週間彼と一緒に過ごせるかもしれないわよ。
Katie: Yeah, that would be really nice.
ケ：そうできれば素敵ね。
Lisa: Do you think you could take a week off work?
リ：仕事、１週間くらい休めそう？
Katie: I'm sure I could, but I'm not so sure about Brian. He sometimes starts projects that last for months, and he can't just leave in the middle of a project.
ケ：休めると思うわ。けど、ブライアンはどうかしら。何か月もかかるプロジェクトがいったん始まると、彼、途中で抜け出せないのよね。
Lisa: I am sure, with a little planning, he could arrange to take a week off.
リ：ちょっと調整すれば、１週間の休みくらい取れるはずよ。
Katie: Yes, I suppose so.
ケ：それもそうね。
Lisa: You should really think about it.
リ：真剣に検討してみて。
Katie: I will. I will talk to Brian about it the next time I see him.
ケ：わかったわ。今度ブライアンに会った時、話してみるわ。
